A veteran Indiana singer-songwriter, session singer and entertainer, Daniel “D.A.” Young has been a jazz singer and American Songbook Standards specialist for the last fifteen years, performing in numerous Central Indiana venues.

D.A. has sung for large events at the Indianapolis Convention Center, the Indiana Historical Society, the Marott Ballroom, Scottish Rite Cathedral, the Westin Hotel, and the Palomino Ballroom, as well as frequent, solo appearances, self-accompanied on guitar, in area wine bars and restaurants such as BRIX: A Zionville Bistro, Deano’s Vino in Fountain Square, D’Vine Wine Bar, and Eddie Merlot’s. He has performed at the Indianapolis Museum of Art, the Chatterbox Jazz Nightclub, the Jazz Kitchen, and the Muncie Convention Center.

Known locally as “D.A.” for his long-term, part-time art band, D.A. & The Convictions, Young was a studio session singer, nightclub performer, and songwriter in the Seventies and Eighties. After leaving a day-job career in print media graphics, D.A. returned to solo performing in 1997. In 2001, he completed his Bachelor’s Degree at IUPUI. In 2002, he partnered with keyboard artist and entertainment producer Joel Erwin, in a series of large event programs, doing American Songbook tunes in a light jazz style. They performed at the 2002 Indy 500 Champagne Ball, and a series of events for The Perfect Wedding Guide. In 2004, Daniel obtained a weekly slot as a solo at BRIX, a Zionsville Bistro, where he remained through 2006.

Daniel produced a recording with pianist/arranger Ken Fary, a CD of classic standards with top jazz players like sax master Michael Stricklin, and bassist Jack Helsley, with Sam Withrow on drums. “A Place to Dream” was released in 2007; WICR jazz radio DJ Chuck Workman reviewed it favorably, as did Indianapolis Monthly. That year, D.A. sang with the Ken Fary group at the Jazz Kitchen, the Chatterbox and the IMA, as well as doing other small club work, solo. In 2008, he did a large event program at the Palomino Ballroom, and a series of Friday programs at Center Stage Café, downtown.

After a three-year hiatus, D.A. returned to performing in 2012, when he produced two “DREAMBOAT Variety Show” programs at YATS on Mass Ave, and performed a series of “FRANK & TONY” dinner cabaret evenings at Chef Joseph’s at the Connoisseur Room in downtown Indianapolis, with pianist Sean Baker. He performed there most recently on Saturday, September 27, 2014. Chef Joseph's is at 115 East Ohio Street, in downtown Indianapolis.

D.A.'s New Show is a three-set program of classic standards, from breezy swing to powerful ballads, D.A.'s way! He is currently working on a new show of original material called, "HEARTS and Other Sharp Objects."
